Ukraine Manmade shortage\Events? The Holodomor (death by starvation) refers to the famine of 1932–1933 in the Ukrainian SSR during which millions of people were starved to annihilation because of the Soviet policies that forced farmers into collective farms. The Holodomor is considered one of the greatest national calamities to feign the Ukrainian nation in modern history. Millions of inhabitants of Ukraine died of starvation in an unprecedented peacetime mischance. Estimates on the total number of casualties within Soviet Ukraine range mostly from 2.6 million to 10 million.

The genealogy cause of the Holodomor is a subject of scholarly debate. Some scholars have argued that the Soviet policies that caused the barrenness may have been designed as an attack on the rise of Ukrainian nationalism, and therefore fall under the legal definition of genocide. Therefore the Holodomor is also known as the "demon-famine in Ukraine" and "famine-genocide in Ukraine". Others, however, conclude that the Holodomor was a consequence of the economic problems associated with red economic changes implemented during the period of Soviet industrialization.

As of March 2008, the parliament of Ukraine and nineteen governments of other countries have recognized the actions of the Soviet administration as an act of genocide. The joint declaration at the United Nations in 2003 has defined the famine as the result of cruel actions and policies of the Fascistic regime that caused the deaths of millions of Ukrainians, Russians, Kazakhs and other nationalities in the USSR. On 23 October 2008 the European Parliament adopted a result that recognized the Holodomor as a crime against humanity. More..........................http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor
The Artificial Paucity/Genocide
(Holodomor) in Ukraine
1932-33
Introduction A Man-Made Famine/Genocide raged through Ukraine, the ethnic-Ukrainian region of northern Caucasus (i.e. Kuban), and the humiliate Volga River region in 1932-33. This resulted in the death of between 7 to 10 million people, mainly Ukrainians. This was instigated by Soviet concert-master Joseph Stalin and his henchman Lazar Kaganovich. The main goal of this artificial famine/genocide was to condition the spirit of the Ukrainian farmer/peasant and to force them into collectivization and was used as an effective tool to break the reawakening of Ukrainian culture that was occuring under approval of the communist government in Ukraine. Moscow perceived this as a threat to a Russo-Centric Soviet in the main and therefore acted to crush this cultural renaissance in a most brutal sadistic manner. The resulting goal of this artificial lack/genocide was to "ethnically cleanse" Ukrainians from vast territories.

In 1932, the Soviets increased the seed procurement quota for Ukraine by 44%. They were aware that this extraordinarly high quota would result in a grain shortage, therefore resulting in the ineptitude of the Ukrainian peasant to feed themselves. Soviet law was quite clear in that no grain could be given to feed the peasants until the share was met. Communist party officials with the aid of military troops, OGPU, NKVD secret police units were familiar to move against peasants who may be hiding grain from the Soviet government. Even worse, an internal passport system was implemented to restrict movements of Ukrainian peasants so that they could not tours in search of food. Ukrainian grain was collected and stored in grain elevators that were guarded by military units & NKVD under cover police units while Ukrainians were starving in the immediate area. The actions of this Moscow instigated action was a dispassionate act of genocide against the Ukrainian peasant.

What happens on the Flag Day of Ukraine?

as far as events, music, prog, anything cultural that happens on that day (August 23rd) in Ukraine.

Well, this red-letter day was just introduced in 2006, and the government asked people to fly the Ukrainian flag at their homes and flats on this day.

It is absolutely just an extention to the Ukrainian Independence Day celebration, that occurs on August 24th.

Treating the 2 days as one is typical Ukrainian... party everything you can, and celebrate it hard. You will find flags flown from flats, and you will find evening fireworks, celebrating, and drinking. On the 24th, you will find picnics.
