what is the language do they make oneself heard b talk freely in ukraine? or do they have there own language??
Ukrainian is the legal language of Ukraine. Ukrainian and Russian are about as similar or different (depending on your point of view) as Scots English and American English. (Sean Connery doesn't affect Scots English in the movies--he speaks British English with a Scottish accent. Scots English is what you understand in Trainspotting--you almost need subtitles in some places.) It is not always easy to understand one another, but if both go slowly it works. However, most Ukrainians are exposed to walloping amounts of Russian in their daily lives and they learn to understand it pretty readily.

Here we see the use of language as a governmental tool by Russia. Whatever rift mentioned by the spokesman is being exploited by Russia for its own political goals.
MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia urges the Job of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities not to encourage what it called Ukraine's discriminatory steps in relation to the Russian language and the Russian speaking denizens.
"The consistent transition of the informational, educational, judicial, and administrative fields fully to the Ukrainian language is deepening the split in Ukrainian high society," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said at a news briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
