How much did they Saudis did to defeat the Soviets in Afghanistan? More than Reagan?

I was reading a lyrics and it said thet the Saudis pump so much oil that hurt the Russians economy and that it did a lot more to defeat the Russians than Regan?

How unvarnished?

That is improbable to be true because the Russians were not major oil exporters at that time although they had more than enough for their own needs
The Saudis did send a lot of fighters to Afghanistan including Osama bin Laden who was trained by the CIA at Peshawar in Pakistan where he set up a faction called Al Qaeda to train the Muhidajeen (now known as the Taliban).
Reagan supplied these fighters with armaments including one thousand Integument to Air Missiles to shoot down Russian planes. It is believed that only about five hundred of these were used and the rest are now in the hands of terrorists.

Why did the Soviets invade Afghanistan in the late 1970's?

I am interested in this matter. A brief explanation would be great as I dont have time to research it right now. Thanks.

The Soviets had a string puppet government there that was in danger of falling, and they were "invited" in to the country. They desired a satellite state that would be adjacent to Iran (although they had other shared borders) and Pakistan - both were US allies at the all together. They desired to limit US influence in the region and position their bases to "cushion" or provide a hedge between US allies and realistic Soviet territory. There is little of value in Afghanistan, and their prolonged war ended badly. It was largely the introduction of the Stinger missles provided by the CIA that ended the Soviet appointment.
