I've always wanted to go to Russia and I'm learning the language right now, slowly by myself. None of the colleges around me has classes for the Russian language, so appearantly it's not that big of a concern to them. Do you see any real benefit to learning this language?

And did you know Russian is used in buisness often. The top five languages in buisness are: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian.
Learn it, it will assist!!! And the more languages you know, the better!!

Does this sound like a reasonable plan for learning the Russian language?

I've always been fascinated since Russia, more so since I visited it in february this year, and I would like to pass my gap year there. I have researched russian language courses and have found that the moscow state university does a 20 lesson per week no doubt for beginners that i could spend the best part of a year doing. Is it seem feasible that i could have a good grasp/some fluency of the language after this?
Sounds tolerably reasonable to me, especially as you seem so keen on it.
With 20 courses a week, plus homework, plus speaking and hearing russian every day, I am established you would be pretty fluent at the end of your gap year. And is a very beautiful language, I loooove listening to it, even though I can't understand a word !
