Can I stop my 18 year old son from leaving the USA to Russia on vacation?

I am a founder and my son turned 18 last june and he is trying to go to russia with his friends. It is extremely dangerous in Moscow (where he is going) and I dont miss him to go. Is there any possible way I can make him stop legally or any other way. I hid his passport but he is trying to make a new one. Any suggestions?
Your son is of admissible age, and I'm assuming mentally competent, there is nothing you can do legally to prohibit him from going.

I'm thoughtful about taking a vacation to Russia. I just saw a movie and the country side looks so beautiful! I also want to see Moscow while there. If you have been what advice do you have? Did you encounter any difficulties while you were there? What was your favorite part?
Russia is bonny and very interesting, however you might experience very high prices and a lot of "pocket thieves", just be very careful. Hotels in Moscow are very pricy, but it's smashing there. Don't go in the winter though! Russians put sand instead of salt on the ice and roads, so it'll look very dirty. It's better to go in the late source, or early fall. Not a lot of places in Russia have air-conditioning. My favorite part about Moscow is the Metro and Red Square of course:) Foresee to see high traffic in Moscow. If you want to see the country side, then outside of Moscow there are a lot of High-end villas and upscale communities. The most prevailing one is called "Рублёвка".
