Bamblebee: “Getting Your Stuff Together” for Primetime
Bamblebee until recently were known as “Bumblebee,” thus begging the insupportable of how and why the name was changed. Several online sources credit this slight shift of emphasis to a re-branding and re-release of existing songs, some of which season back to 2006. We assume the new designation is supposed to be a phonetic transcription of the English word as it sounds when spoken by someone with a thick Russian accent. (No, honestly.)
It’s also a lot easier to search for: with the initial, correct spelling, any potential fan would have to plow through thousands of sites dedicated to hives, honey, and scanty English bears before stumbling upon the right information.
What becomes of the past when a change of image takes place? Regard for the possibly negative connotations of any re-branding, the fact that the band has been in existence for several years is actually their strength. On one occasion seemingly wasted on flip-flopping ad campaigns can also be time spent rehearsing. For an outfit that apparently has no pecuniary or PR support to speak of, they sound remarkably accomplished, sitting somewhere in the noisy realm between nu- or alt-metal and a media-loving form of grunge. In their own materials, Bamblebee say as much - in declarations that they operate “between pop-rock and grunge.”
And indeed, as a few forums side out, the TV station A-One has been playing the band’s debut video around the clock. Their sound is designed for a certain goal audience and - once the station supplying that audience took notice - all was well.
